Snow removal

Facilities Management’s Landcare team is the primary snow removal service provider for the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus, responsible for clearing nearly 100 miles of streets and walkways, and over 100 acres of parking surfaces. Landcare added anti-icing to the University’s winter maintenance program in 2006, which led to notable cost savings and reduced environmental impact. So, how do they do it?

As part of the 2020-21 Midwest Climate Summit, the Climate Stories Art Contest for undergraduate and graduate students ages 18-25. This contest is a multimedia art competition and students can enter work in one of four categories: visual arts, film/photography, written word, and performing arts.

As May wanders in, April draws to a close, and we all continue to practice social distancing, there is plenty of time to reflect on Earth Month and the Earth Day Ecochallenge. If you’re unfamiliar, the Ecochallenge was a virtual event that took place throughout the entirety of April. The Ecochallenge became a platform for all the UMN campuses to engage with one another and with the Earth itself during Earth Month.
