On November 9th, the University of Minnesota Twin-Cities hosted a group of students from Crookston, Duluth, and Morris campuses, all interested in learning more about sustainability.

The time to switch from gas to electric lawn equipment is now, and that’s exactly what University of Minnesota landcare did.

If you’ve been on campus the last two years, it’s likely you’ve witnessed the ever-changing appearance of Pioneer Hall. Renovations that started during the summer of 2017 were recently completed and the newly-improved residence hall was opened to new students this fall. 

Over the last few years, the Office of Sustainability has been attending the University of Minnesota Farmer’s Market as an opportunity to reach out to the campus community and start a conversation about sustainable actions.

As you may remember from our last blog, we have been talking about organics recycling lately. Last week we discussed the changes that the University of Minnesota has been undergoing recently to make organics recycling more widespread across campus. So how can the members of the campus community get involved?Their goal is to rollout organics collection bins to 180+ buildings on the Twin Cities campus by October 2020.

You may have noticed the green waste bins popping up across campus recently. These bins marked a very important shift in waste recovery at the University of Minnesota as the collection of organic materials becomes more prominent and readily available to all.

Did you know that March 22ndis World Water Day? Every year, the day is used to celebrate the water that sustains us and to recognize and raise awareness for the treatment of our natural water resources.

U Market Services, the department who manages the bulk of deliveries on campus, was recently honored for its sustainable delivery efforts. The national University Logistics and Supply Chain Association (ULSCA) presented the department with its 2018 Sustainability Award for its expanded application of Secondary Distribution Hubs.

The University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus recently received an award that is the first of its kind! Fill It Forward(formerly Cupanion), is the program that our Choose, reUse, and WIN! initiative functions through. Fill It Forward has recently awarded us the Changemaker Award! You may be wondering, what does this award mean and how did our school earn it?
